So we're firmly into Hydrangea season now and so we'll be featuring them as part of our Flower Friday mix of flowers... and we can't wait!
The name Hydrangea comes from the Greek 'hydor' meaning water and 'angos' meaning jar or vessel - so it literally translates as 'water vessel' and it refers to this flowers need for loads of water as well as its cup-shaped flower.
We always recommend keeping your Hydrangeas in deep cold water, and like most flowers, they prefer a well ventilated room, away from direct sunlight.
According to legend, Hydrangeas symbolise heartfelt emotion - this comes after a Japanese businessman reportedly gifted them to the family of a girl he loved to make up for neglecting her in favour of his work!
We think there are plenty of people out there in need of a Hydrangea gift....
